THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Bright Ventures Investment Associate, you’ll generate investment ideas and opportuntieis, build financial models, and coordinate due diligence, driving increased deployment of the Bright Ventures Fund. You’ll be joining our growing fund team, reporting directly to the Managing Partner. We’re seeking a talented, responsive, experienced and organized Investment Associate ****with an inclusive mindset to support our growing team.

A willingness to learn in a fast-paced, adaptable environment is a must. This position is remote, but candidates based in New York City are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will report to the Managing Partner, and work closely with the Fund Team at Bright Ventures. As an Investment Associate, responsibilities include:

Deal Sourcing

• Sourcing new deals through networking and founder outreach
• Prospecting potential investments and staying in the know of exciting opportunities and new markets

Due Diligence

• Supporting the Managing Partner by operating in all areas of investment due diligence, as needed, to assess the viability of the investment opportunity within Bright Ventures’ parameters, including:
  • Assessing a target investments competitive positioning, defensibility, and potential risks, from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives
  • Developing financial models to assess fair investment targets, industry trends, risks, and growth opportunities
  • Working to win investment opportunities based on our unique model and positioning
• Leading investment analysis to clearly define investment alignment to the Bright Ventures’ strategy.

Thesis Development

• Conducting market research to identify and monitor trends in key industries such as Finance, Health, and Future of Work technologies, among others.
• Providing thought leadership on investment themes and untapped market potential based on vigilant observance of key markets.
• Collaborating cross functionally with the team to substantiate analyses and identify growth and market opportunities.

Firm Development + Operations

• Managing Deal Meeting notes and Deal pipeline tracking
• In Partnership with the Fund Team, managing all deal pipeline tracking systems to ensure consistent accuracy
• Supporting general fund administration including document creation, editing and filing
• Creating systems to organize and improve investment deliverables and follow-ups with portfolio companies.
